ATI / AMD Architecture

Understanding ATI / AMD Architecture

Each ATI graphics cards will have Certain No of SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Data) Cores

Each SIMD core will have 16 SPs (Stream Processors)

Each SP is Five way super Scalar Processor
Each SP will have 4 mul-add units one Special Operation Unit

So If ATI card is having 10 SIMD Cores then

it can  do 10*16*5 operations per clock cycle (each SIMD is having 16 SPs and Each SP is having 5 ALUs)
